What is grief?

Grief can result from a major event that happens in your life (such as the loss of a loved one, a partner, a friend or a pet. 

These events can cause both emotional and physical pain that can sometimes impair your ability to function. Grief counseling can involve working with a counsellor or therapist to address your feelings


What are the various types of grief?

  • Anticipatory Grief
    This happens when you are aware of a person or family member that is expecting death, it is normal to begin to anticipate how you will react and cope when that person eventually dies. Your sadness is usually fused with other emotions for the person.
  • Traumatic Loss
    An unexpected traumatic loss could take place due to loosing someone to an accident, a traumatic event that results in shock and unbelief, often feelings overwhelmed, and leaving many unanswered questions like "why did this happened to him?" "He does not deserve this", "Why God is so unfair" , "He is still so young..".   
  • Sudden Loss
    Sudden, unexpected loss will often exceed your coping abilities, which often results in feelings of being overwhelmed . While these feelings of being overwhelmed is a normal , being able to process through the feelings of sudden loss will be very much beneficial for you.
